Carnelian Figa Fist Pendant Amulet for Protection
This famous amulet is called with the name Mano Figa or Figa Charm. The gesture of the thumb protruded between the pointer finger and middle finger has a variety of different meanings dating back nearly 8,000 years to the ancient Etruscans. It originated as an obscene gesture not unlike the middle finger, and was referred to as ‘giving the thumb’. Mano means hand and Figa means fig, a slang term for female genitalia. The gesture is undeniably a reference to sex and female power.
Over time the symbol spread to other cultures and beginning in the early 17th century figas began to be produced in South America. Now they are commonly worn as a symbol of protection against the evil eye. The obscenity of the gesture is said to distract and banishing evil away from you. By wearing this magical amulet it will protect you from all malefic influences and negativity towards you.
